-- 4th annual ALG Canadian Residual Value Awards recognize Mazda subcompact and full-size utility vehicle --
RICHMOND HILL, ON, Feb. 17, 2012 /CNW/ - Mazda Canada today announced that it has received two Canadian Residual Value Awards from automotive insights company ALG, the industry benchmark for residual values. ALG awarded the 2012 Mazda2 in the subcompact category and the 2012 Mazda CX-9 in the full-size utility vehicle segment. This is the first time the Mazda2 has won this award, while the CX-9 enjoys its second year of recognition by ALG.
"At Mazda Canada, we believe in the value and quality that our vehicles represent, and with these awards from ALG for Canadian Residual Value, we know that our customers recognize our vehicles for their quality and dependability as well", said Don Romano, President, Mazda Canada. "The Mazda2 and CX-9 represent our dedication to building fun-to-drive vehicles at both ends of the segment spectrum, and every other vehicle in our line-up carries these same 'Zoom-Zoom' characteristics our customers love about Mazda cars."
The annual ALG Residual Value Awards recognize automakers' outstanding achievements in producing vehicles that demonstrate the ability to retain the highest percentage of their original price after a four-year term, specific to mainstream brands. Awards are given in 19 vehicle categories and two brand categories (mainstream and luxury). This year's awards are based on 2012 model year vehicles.
Award winners are determined through careful study of the competition in each segment, historical vehicle performance, industry trends, and economic conditions. Vehicle quality, production levels relative to demand, and pricing and marketing strategies remain the key factors that impact ALG's residual value forecasts.
About the 2012 Mazda2
The 2012 Mazda2 was designed and engineered from scratch to be a pure Mazda, offering the sort of driving experience that could only come from the company that developed the timeless MX-5 two-seat roadster, and it brings a combination of athletic design and dynamic performance to the subcompact class.
"The Mazda2 delivers great value within the Sub Compact segment," said Geoff Helby, Canada Regional Director for ALG. "A combination of the efficiency Canadian consumers expect and excellent brand value in the Canadian market makes the Mazda2 an appealing choice in an increasingly crowded segment."
The Mazda2 carries Mazda's unique brand values such as exhilarating driving performance and eye-catching design to the segment, without sacrificing the basic requirements for subcompact cars: superior fuel efficiency, outstanding value, high crash-safety performance and ample passenger space.
About the 2012 Mazda CX-9
An instant success when it first hit the market in 2007, the seven-passenger CX-9 raised the bar for the three-row crossover SUV segment. From its dynamic styling and safety to versatility and performance, Mazda's flagship crossover SUV continues to wow customers and automotive critics alike as it moves into its sixth year of production.
"The Mazda CX-9 delivers the ultimate combination of style and substance," said Geoff Helby, Canada Regional Director for ALG. "In a segment usually reserved for soccer moms, the CX-9 adds spice with its desirable sportiness. Combine that with low incentives and the strength of the Mazda brand in Canada and consumers get a vehicle that delivers utility and long-term value."
