Unifor and Coast Mountain Bus Company return to bargaining table

VANCOUVER, BC, Sept. 10, 2026 /CNW/ -- Unifor Locals 111 and 2200 and Coast Mountain Bus Company will return to the bargaining table on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at the request of mediator Trevor Sones.

"Nobody wants these negotiations settled more than our members," said Unifor National President Lana Payne. "They are the ones out on the road every day and they want a contract that works. We will be at the table Saturday and we will stay as long as it takes."

Sones reached out to both parties and asked them to resume negotiations. Both parties have agreed.

Bargaining opened in early February 2026. Members of both locals voted 99.35 per cent in favour of strike action in May, and the union has since taken a series of job actions while continuing to seek a negotiated settlement.

"Our members took a strike vote and they have followed through with job action," said Unifor Western Regional Director Gavin McGarrigle. "They have shown they are serious and they are ready to sit down Saturday and get a deal done."

Unifor Local 111 represents transit operators and Local 2200 represents Skilled Trades, service and SeaBus workers at Coast Mountain Bus Company in Metro Vancouver. The two locals are bargaining jointly for a renewed collective agreement.
