VANCOUVER, BC, Oct. 27, 2026 /CNW/ -- The 445 room attendants, servers, banquet staff and other workers at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver will see wage increases of between 10% and 23% over the next three years, after members of Unifor Local 114 voted in favour of a new collective agreement on Oct. 27, 2026.
"Hotel workers make this city run, and they deserve a fair share of what they help build," said Unifor National President Lana Payne. "These members stood together and won real raises, better benefits and stronger protections on the job."
The three-year deal also raises the banquet gratuity level, increases vacation, and improves paramedical and vision coverage.
The agreement also tackles day-to-day working conditions. It includes improvements to housekeeping workloads, stronger contract language to protect workers from abuse by patrons, and shoes for servers.
"Room attendants and servers do hard, physical work. The new Hotel Vancouver agreement eases housekeeper workload, gives workers stronger protection against abuse, and delivers raises that matter in a region with a high cost of living," said Unifor Western Regional Director Gavin McGarrigle.
Unifor is Canada's largest union in the private sector, representing 320,000 workers in every major area of the economy. The union advocates for all working people and their rights, fights for equality and social justice in Canada and abroad, and strives to create progressive change for a better future.
