TORONTO, April 28, 2012 /CNW/ - Flowers aren't the only thing growing this season - the LOTTO MAX jackpot is getting a special springtime boost. The draw on Friday, May 4, 2012 will offer an estimated $50 million jackpot plus an estimated 2 MAXMILLIONS prizes of $1 million each.
LOTTO MAX jackpots usually grow by $10 million when a jackpot is not won, but from time to time LOTTO MAX may also offer a special jackpot. That's the case for the May 4, 2012 draw.
While there was no winning ticket for the jackpot from last night's draw, a ticket sold in the Toronto-area is sharing part of the second prize pool with a ticket sold in Quebec. These tickets are each worth $205,610.
The most recent winners of a LOTTO MAX jackpot in Ontario were a couple from Thunder Bay who won $50 million in the March 23, 2012 draw.
Since its launch in September 2009, Ontario LOTTO MAX players have won over $1.2 billion in prizes, including 21 jackpot wins and 117 winning MAXMILLIONS tickets from all across the province.
For each $5 play, LOTTO MAX players receive three sets of seven numbers ranging from one to forty-nine. Players must match all seven numbers, in any one set, to win the jackpot and the MAXMILLIONS prizes.
Players can purchase tickets at authorized OLG retailers until 9 p.m. Friday, May 4, 2012 for the draw that evening.
OLG is a provincial agency responsible for province-wide lottery games and gaming facilities. Since 1975, OLG lotteries, casinos, slots, and resort casinos have generated more than $34 billion for the benefit of the Province of Ontario.
