Following a sold-out debut, Toronto's sauna culture gets a major expansion with 20+ saunas, international sauna masters, immersive rituals, bigger music acts and triple the amount of wellness programming
TORONTO, Sept. 17, 2026 /CNW/ -- Sauna culture has exploded beyond the traditional spa--and Toronto is getting a three-day festival built around it.
Produced by Unbounded, this year's festival will transform Evergreen Brick Works into a sprawling wellness playground, occupying more than three times the footprint of its debut, bringing together hundreds of sauna rituals, world-class Aufguss masters and practitioners from across Canada and Europe, alongside movement classes, cold plunges, live music, DJs, breathwork, sound experiences, recovery treatments, food and more.
The result is less a traditional wellness event and more a three-day social and cultural experience built around the rituals of heat and cold.
"Last year showed us that people are looking for something much bigger than simply going to a sauna," says Nick McNaught, founder of Unbounded. "We saw 1,500 people come together to sweat, plunge, move, listen to music and connect with each other. That response gave us the confidence to completely rethink what this event could become. This year, we've tripled the space, expanded to three days and brought together sauna traditions and talent from around the world, while creating a place where people can spend hours exploring, whether they step into a sauna or not."
Sauna Culture from around the world meets Festival Culture
At the center of the festival will be a constantly changing program of guided rituals and free-flow experiences within the sauna village.
International sauna masters and practitioners from Germany, Poland, Romania and Estonia will join Canadian talent to showcase the breadth of global sauna culture--from highly performative Aufguss ceremonies and herbal infusions to body scrubs and traditional Banya-inspired rituals.
Cold immersion will run throughout the festival, with both guided and free-flow plunges giving guests the opportunity to move between heat and cold at their own pace.
But the festival is designed to be about more than what happens inside a sauna.
Guests can move through an expanded wellness landscape featuring yoga and Pilates, breathwork and sound baths, meditation, recovery and longevity experiences, skin and herbal treatments, live music and DJs, as well as food, tea and non-alcoholic beverages. Interactive installations and unexpected activations will be woven throughout the Evergreen Brick Works site.
KC Roberts, Meagan Delima [performed for Barack Obama], The Coffee Party and more will take over different elements of the festival's entertainment programming.
A New Immersive Opening Night: October 2
Toronto Sauna Festival will kick off its 2026 edition with A Journey Through the Elements, a signature opening-night celebration on October 2 that invites guests into an immersive world, culminating into a one-night only artistic centrepiece.
Guests will begin their journey into the festival by cycling through four elemental zones: Earth, Air, Water and Fire. At the heart of the evening is a large-scale performance inspired by these elements, transforming the main space into a theatre for one-night only. Each element will be interpreted through a different wellness and artistic practice, from Aufguss to Cymatics, fire breathing to live music, this night marks the beginning of a weekend designed to blur the lines between wellness, nightlife and culture.
A Festival You Can Make Your Own
Rather than following a traditional festival schedule, Toronto Sauna Festival is designed around choice and discovery.
Saturday and Sunday programming will include a variety of sessions, each with their own atmosphere and lineup. Guests can move between saunas, cold plunges, guided rituals, movement classes, recovery spaces, music, food and other activities at their own pace.
The festival reflects the growing evolution of sauna and cold culture: practices that were once primarily associated with health and recovery are increasingly becoming social spaces--places to gather, meet people, listen to music, move, relax and experience something together.
