TORONTO, Dec. 24, 2013 /CNW/ - Toronto Hydro-Electric System Limited (Toronto Hydro) has restored power to approximately 215,000 customers (approximately 85,000 customers remain without power).
We've restored all critical loads, including the Sheppard subway line.
Crews are working around the clock. Once primary feeds are restored we will work on localized outages along sub-feeders and lateral runs down side streets.
If you're concerned that Toronto Hydro has reported that your neighbourhood is back on and your home is still without power, do the following:
- Check to see if your neighbours have power
- Check your breaker panel to see if the switches are in the "on" position.
- Is the overhead service wire outside your home "down"? If so, please call us at 416-542-8000 to report it.
Toronto Hydro is receiving assistance from other utilities. Crews from Hydro Ottawa, Sault St. Marie PUC, Enwin (Windsor) and Manitoba Hydro are being deployed across the city.
The City of Toronto is still operating Reception centres, where those in need can access food, water, warmth and rest. For more information, please visit Toronto.ca
If you spot a downed wire, please stay back (at least 10 feet) and report it to Toronto Hydro's operations centre at 416-542-8000. Please be cautious of falling tree limbs as well.
