Toronto Hydro earns top spot on Corporate Knights' annual listing of Responsible Corporate Leaders
Utility recognized for its sustainability performance
TORONTO, June 7, 2017 /CNW/ - Last night, Toronto Hydro was recognized as the top-ranked company on Corporate Knights' fourth annual Future 40 Responsible Corporate Leaders in Canada list. This marks the third time we've been named to the list since Corporate Knights began publishing the ranking in 2014.
The 2017 Future 40 recognizes our sustainability achievements, including the roll out of our climate change adaptation road map in 2015, and a reduction in our carbon footprint in recent years, including a 24% decrease between 2014 and 2015.
The ranking also highlights our recent efforts to replace aging infrastructure, install solar PV projects on municipally-owned buildings and move forward with innovative energy storage projects such as Hydrostor, the world's first underwater energy storage system.
To determine the rankings, Corporate Knights evaluated firms against industry peers across 14 key performance indicators, including carbon productivity, CEO to average worker pay ratio, per cent of taxes paid and safety records.
