Successful implementation of ePROGESA brings Héma-Québec's blood collection operations to a new level

MONTRÉAL, Oct. 21, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - MAK-SYSTEM International Group and Héma-Québec announced today the successful implementation of ePROGESA, the software solution managing the complete Héma-Québec's blood management operations.

ePROGESA software is designed to meet the functional requirements of blood banks and blood transfusion centers. ePROGESA ensures the safety and traceability of blood products and derivatives from collection to distribution.

ePROGESA is the web based version of the complete integrated blood bank solution that is widely implemented throughout the world. WEB Technology is the answer to the increasing needs in terms of technology and requirements in the Blood Transfusion sector in terms of flexibility, mobility and security.

ePROGESA implementation at Héma-Québec brought its operations to the next level, significantly improving blood collection operations and strengthening safety. Blood drives processes are now paperless. The donor selection process is integrated into a donor's self-administrated electronic questionnaire.

Both organizations said adopting ePROGESA will enhance the blood management system and sustain Héma-Québec activities from the donor to the recipient through blood bank and transfusion activities, including collection, processing, testing, distribution and tracking of donated blood.

Héma-Québec, which collects more than 300,000 units of blood each year, lauded this collaboration. "Héma-Québec makes safety paramount in donor screening, collections, testing, production and distribution of blood products. Blood is a complex perishable substance which brings challenges in the collection process and underscores the need to maintain safety with testing, inventory management, timely distribution and constant replenishment. Héma-Québec, for example, needs a minimum of 1,000 new donations daily to keep an adequate inventory for emergencies.
