Steelworkers, mining families and supporters to address provincial government plan for comprehensive review of mining safety in Ontario.
SUDBURY, ON, Dec. 4, 2013 /CNW/ - The United Steelworkers and the MINES (Mining Inquiry Needs Everyone's Support) Committee will respond today to the provincial government's plan for a comprehensive review of mining safety in Ontario.

"The Ontario government recognizes that too many miners have been killed or injured on the job," said USW Local 6500 President Rick Bertrand, whose local represents 2,600 workers at Vale's mining operations in Sudbury.
"Now we must ensure that meaningful, timely action is taken to improve health and safety in mining," Bertrand said.
