Statement by the Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, on the Occasion of the 2012 Digi Awards

OTTAWA, Dec. 4, 2012 /CNW/ - Our Government recognizes the importance of arts and culture in strengthening our identity, stimulating our economy, and revitalizing our communities. We also understand that digital media have a special place in our cultural landscape. They play a vital role in telling our stories and shaping our national identity.

Each year, the Digi Awards are presented to Canadian businesses that have helped enrich the digital media sector both at home and abroad. Through their outstanding creativity and innovative spirit, these companies reinforce Canada's position as a dynamic and prosperous nation at the leading edge of the digital revolution.

On behalf of Prime Minister Stephen Harper and the Government of Canada, I would like to congratulate all of this year's nominees and award winners. Their success and the honours they receive make us all very proud.
