Starbucks Celebrates Love and Coffee with World's Largest Starbucks Date

Canadians invited to share in Perfect Pairings Menu in Celebration of Valentine's Day in Stores on Friday, Feb 13

TORONTO, Jan. 29, 2015 /CNW/ - With Valentine's Day just around the corner, Starbucks is inviting Canadians to celebrate moments of connection over coffee and join the World's Largest Starbucks Date, Friday, February 13th, in participating stores in Canada.

"We've always believed that our role is bigger than coffee. It's about recognizing and celebrating the moments in our lives that take place over a cup of coffee and the role our stores can play in helping to connect people and create a sense of community," said Richard Burjaw, vice president of marketing, Starbucks Canada.

According to data from leading online dating site, Match.com, one in three Canadians (33%) think a café is the best location for a first date*.  For more than 40 years, Starbucks has worked to create an environment within stores where people can share life moments – big and small – with one another. As the "third place" between work and home, Starbucks baristas have witnessed first dates, marriage proposals, job interviews, old friends being reunited, communities gathering and so much more, within stores across the country and around the world.

There's no better time to celebrate meaningful moments of connection and encourage new ones than at Valentine's Day.  In celebration of love and meaningful connections of every kind, Starbucks is inviting customers around the world to participate in the World's Largest Starbucks Date.  On Friday, February 13, participating company-operated and select licensed locations across the globe* will feature a special Perfect Pairings menu. The menu will feature a selection of coffee and treat pairings available for $5.  Sample pairings include:

• Caffé Verona Coffee Press for Two and a Double Chocolate Chunk Brownie
• Tall Flat White Latte and Chocolate Brioche
• Grande Raspberry Mocha or Grande White Chocolate Mocha and Chocolate Chunk Cookie

Available from 2pm to close, the "Perfect Pairings" menu will be complemented with in-store experiences designed to facilitate connection and celebrate love, including special in-store music playlists chosen by Starbucks partners (employees), photo props to document and share your #StarbucksDate, and other fun Valentine's themed experiences.
