MONTREAL , Oct. 22 /CNW Telbec/ - A special screening of the film "De père en flic" will be held for Members of Parliament in Ottawa on October 27, 2009 . The film is being screened at the invitation of the Honourable James Moore , Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, in concert with Alliance Vivafilm, Cinémaginaire inc., Super Écran, an Astral Media network, and Telefilm Canada .

The screening will provide MPs with the opportunity to discover a high-quality Canadian film, at the initiative of the Minister of Canadian Heritage. The screening will be held in the auditorium of the National Gallery of Canada and will be followed by a reception.

The comedy "De père en flic" has been a major hit at the box office, earning close to $11 million since its theatrical release in Quebec this past July. Written and directed by Émile Gaudreault, co-written by Ian Lauzon and produced by Denise Robert and Daniel Louis of Cinémaginaire, it stars Michel Côté and Louis-José Houde. Also in the cast are Rémy Girard, Caroline Dhavernas, Robin Aubert , Patrick Drolet , Luc Senay, Pierre Collin , Normand D'Amour, Patrice Coquereau, Jici Lauzon, Sylvie Boucher and Jean-Michel Anctil. The film received funding support from Telefilm Canada .

"De père en flic" tells the story of two cops, Jacques and Marc, his son, who don't get along but who have to work together as a team. Their mission: to find a colleague who has been kidnapped by a biker gang. Their mission's success hinges on the lawyer for the bikers, Charles Bérubé, who finds himself experiencing a full-blown crisis of conscience and who might be ready to cooperate with the police. But getting access to the lawyer is impossible. Jacques and Marc go undercover, pretending they're real-estate agents in an attempt to get up close and personal with Bérubé. They find themselves participating in a father-son therapy activity in the forest. Will they earn Bérubé's trust and coax him into revealing what he knows about the case? "De père en flic" is both a classic cop movie and a hilarious look at father-son relationships.
