SAINT-PASCAL, QC, Aug. 1, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)
Key local stakeholders have long been asking for concrete, sustainable measures to improve community and recreational infrastructure. The Government of Canada is proud to invest in projects, such as the Association de baseball mineur de Saint-Pascal, that contribute to the strength and vitality of the region.
The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED, announced that $128,633 in non-repayable financial assistance has been granted to the Association de baseball mineur de Saint-Pascal to upgrade the baseball field facilities of this municipality in Bas-Saint-Laurent.
The Association de baseball mineur de Saint-Pascal was created in 2007. Its mandate is to promote baseball practice among youth in the region and oversee their development. To do so, the organization manages the operation of the field and the assets related to its use.
The funding granted under the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program (CIP150) enabled the Association de baseball mineur de Saint-Pascal to continue the work it started in 2011 and upgrade the field, install a lighting system, score board, bleachers and a dugout.
"The Government of Canada supports the projects of organizations, like the Association de baseball mineur de Saint-Pascal, which mobilize and unite our communities and stimulate economic activity in Canada. Community and recreational infrastructure such as the the Saint-Pascal baseball field, are prime gathering places. Today, as it was 150 years ago, openness helps build strong communities. It is in places like these that we can better explore our differences and more fully appreciate the many cultures that give life to our country."
The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister responsible for CED
"This project enables our Association to provide youth with a safer environment and the opportunity to Midget players to continue practicing baseball in our community."
Nancy Dion, President of the Association de baseball mineur de Saint-Pascal
- Since its creation in 2015, the CIP150 invested nearly $13 million in over 450 projects supporting the vitality of Quebec communities.
- CED is one of the six regional development agencies under the responsibility of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development.
