EDMONTON, AB, Sept. 8, 2026 /CNW/ -- Alberta Investment Management Corporation (AIMCo) is pleased to welcome Mr. Ron Helmhold and Mr. Hugh O'Reilly to its Board of Directors, with both appointed to terms ending September 2, 2029.

Mr. Helmhold brings deep experience in institutional investment management. He served as the Chief Financial Officer of the Workers' Compensation Board - Alberta from 2006 to 2026, overseeing a $15 billion investment portfolio and leading the organization's finance, risk management and investment operations.

Mr. O'Reilly is a governance leader with extensive experience in pension management, investment strategy and public policy. He served as President and Chief Executive Officer of OPTrust from 2014 to 2019, overseeing growth in plan assets from $16 billion to more than $20 billion. He also brings legal, governance and public sector experience from senior roles in private practice and within the Ontario government.

This announcement follows the signing of the Order in Council, O.C. 311/2026, by the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta on September 3, 2026. In accordance with the Alberta Investment Management Corporation Act, the Board of Directors is responsible for overseeing the management of the business and affairs of AIMCo. Guided by this mandate, the Board sets the strategic direction of the Corporation and oversees the development and implementation of policies and procedures that govern the day-to-day conduct of AIMCo's business. All directors are appointed to the Board by the Lieutenant Governor in Council and are fully independent of management.
