TORONTO, April 16, 2018 /CNW/ - Today, Ricoh Canada and Bullfrog Power, Canada's leading green energy provider, are celebrating a major environmental landmark. For more than a decade, Ricoh Canada has been choosing Bullfrog Power's green electricity to reduce its environmental impact. With more than 5,500 megawatt hours of electricity put onto the grid on its behalf, Ricoh Canada has displaced more than 900 tonnes of carbon dioxide, which is equivalent to the emissions from more than 3.5 million kilometres driven by an average passenger vehicle.1

Through the agreement, Bullfrog Power ensures that renewable electricity is put into the grid to match the amount of conventional electricity that Ricoh Canada's distribution centre in Concord, Ontario, uses. Across Canada, Bullfrog's green electricity comes from a blend of wind and low-impact hydro power sourced from new Canadian renewable energy facilities.

By bullfrogpowering its distribution centre, Ricoh Canada is also contributing to Bullfrog Power's community renewable projects program that has supported more than 130 community-based projects across Canada. In Ontario, the bullfrogpowered community helped to fund a 225-panel solar project on Kew Beach Junior Public School in Toronto's The Beach neighbourhood.
In addition to renewable energy, Ricoh has recently been named a gold winner for Most Environmentally Responsible Company of the Year by the Best in Biz Awards. In 2018, for the third consecutive year, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has recognized Ricoh USA, Inc. with its prestigious ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year Award. Ricoh has also won the ENERGY STAR Sustained Excellence Award for continued leadership and superior contributions to the program. These latest accolades acknowledge Ricoh's hard work to foster environmental sustainability in its own operations and evangelize on behalf of sustainability to customers, Ricoh Family Group dealer partners and the larger business community.
