TORONTO, Sept. 14, 2026 /CNW/ -- The Registered Insurance Brokers of Ontario (RIBO), the province's regulator of property and casualty insurance brokers, is issuing a public warning regarding Muhammad Raahim (Licensee 49083) an insurance broker in Mississauga.
RIBO suspended Muhammad Raahim's RIBO licence , effective November 20, 2024. In cases where there are reasonable and probable grounds to believe that a licensee is operating in a manner that creates an immediate risk to the public, RIBO has the authority under its By-Laws to suspend a licensee immediately. RIBO has been in contact with the Peel Regional Police on this matter who recently charged Muhammad Raahim for allegedly selling fraudulent automobile insurance policies

RIBO is not in a position to discuss ongoing matters related to Muhammad Raahim's RIBO license at this time however any details regarding any upcoming disciplinary proceedings will be made public as soon as they become available on our website.
As noted in the Peel Regional Police news release, there is reason to believe that there may be additional consumers who may have interacted with Muhammad Raahim. Anyone who purchased automobile insurance through Muhammad Raahim is encouraged to contact RIBO's complaints team via email at [email protected] and the Fraud Bureau at 905-453-2121, ext. 3335.
Consumers should continue to take proactive steps to help mitigate insurance fraud risks including verifying an Ontario insurance broker's licence, on RIBO's website, understanding your policy, and protecting your personal information. RIBO also advises watching for red flags such as too-good-to-be-true premiums, requests to make e-transfer payments, and unsolicited offers by a non-business email account or social media.
