REMINDER: Submit to RNAO's annual Media Awards competition
TORONTO, Jan. 7, 2015 /CNW/ - The deadline for reporters, editors and producers to submit their best nursing and health stories in the Registered Nurses' Association of Ontario's (RNAO) annual Media Awards competition is approaching quickly.
For over a decade, RNAO, the province's professional nursing association comprised of more than 40,000 members, has honoured outstanding journalism that helps to inform, analyze and contribute to a better understanding of nursing and our health-care system. Past winners have explored a variety of topics, including youth mental health, the do-not-resuscitate discussion and the integral role palliative care plays in the lives of terminally ill patients. Meanwhile, these are just some of the topics that have captured headlines in the past year: medical tourism (the practice of generating revenue by soliciting patients from abroad), physician-assisted death and euthanasia, and our nation's flailing home-care system.
The association is encouraging journalists from across Ontario to submit work that covers a nursing or health topic. This year's categories are:
