ST. JOHN'S, Antigua and Barbuda, Nov. 3, 2026 /CNW/ -- Today, the Prime Minister, Mark Carney, met with the President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, on the margins of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in St. John's, Antigua and Barbuda.
Prime Minister Carney and President Mahama discussed the growing Canada-Ghana partnership, evidenced by a 50% increase in bilateral merchandise trade and a 35% increase in Canadian exports to Ghana last year.
To build on this momentum, the leaders welcomed the recent signing of a Letter of Intent that will guide work toward a broader Canada-Ghana economic cooperation framework. Once in effect, the framework would support new commercial opportunities for Canadian workers and businesses, including in sectors such as renewable energy, mining, critical minerals, and infrastructure development.
The leaders exchanged views on their respective efforts to build resilient economies.
Prime Minister Carney and President Mahama agreed to remain in close contact.
