Plan International Canada President & CEO, Caroline Riseboro, recognized as one of Canada's Most Powerful Women for second consecutive year
TORONTO, Nov. 22, 2018 /CNW/ - Plan International Canada is proud to announce that its President & CEO has joined WXN's Top 100 Alumni as a two-time award recipient in Canada's Most Powerful Women, Trailblazer & Trendsetter category. This annual award celebrates powerful and inspirational women who have made a strong impact on the private, public and not-for-profit sectors. Recipients are recognized as leaders who continue to break new ground and shatter traditional barriers while making a significant contribution to Canadian society. Over 1,005 women across Canada have received WXN's Top 100 Award to date.
As President & CEO of Plan International Canada, Caroline Riseboro has committed herself to engaging Canadians in tackling society's most pressing issues and is credited with launching numerous ground-breaking and award-winning campaigns. Prior to her role at Plan International Canada, Caroline was the first woman to attain a senior role (VP of Marketing) at World Vision at the age of 35 and was the first woman in Canada to lead a major charity under age 40. Throughout her career, she has challenged expectations and stereotypes that are often assumed of young female executives. She boldly champions gender inequality and girls' rights both in Canada and abroad and calls on those around her to do the same.
Caroline recognizes that empowering women to become leaders must start with adolescent girls. At Plan International Canada, Caroline works tirelessly to elevate the importance of investing in girls at both the international and national level, calling on political leaders to focus on gender equality and girls' rights as the key to global progress.
Since welcoming Caroline as the President & CEO in the spring of 2016, Plan International Canada has strengthened its commitment to advancing the rights of children and equality for girls. Under Caroline's leadership, the organization is poised to achieve its goal of helping 20 million children learn, lead, decide and thrive.
As a two-time recipient of the Canada's Most Powerful Women award, Caroline will now be considered among the Top 100 Alumni, a group of women who consistently demonstrate inspirational leadership in their sector. "Being recognized as one of Canada's Most Powerful Women for the second year in a row is not only an honour," said Caroline in response to her recognition by WXN. "It's an opportunity to send a message to young female leaders that ceilings are shattering, and possibilities are endless."
Plan International Canada's Vice President of Communications and Public Engagement, Dena Allen, also commented on the news of Carline's recognition by WXN. "We take great pride in knowing our CEO & President has been honoured with the Canada's Most Powerful Women award. It's empowering to know female leaders like Caroline are being celebrated for fearlessly pushing boundaries in their careers and for their communities."
