As Canada's population ages, technology has an increasingly important role to play in supporting healthy aging
TORONTO, Sept. 14, 2026 /CNW/ -- On October 1, older adults, caregivers and others can discover AgeTech innovations designed to support independence, health and quality of life at AGE-WELL AgeTech Discovery Day events, which mark National Seniors Day.
Events will take place in nine locations across seven provinces, along with a national virtual session. Participants can explore AgeTech innovations through hands-on demonstrations, meet local researchers, hear about technologies that support aging in place, and learn how to get involved in research.
"Technology has the power to transform what it means to grow older, and AGE-WELL is thrilled to launch this initiative to show the difference that AgeTech can make in people's lives," said Bridgette Murphy, CEO of AGE-WELL, Canada's technology and aging network.
In-person events will take place in Prince George and Vancouver, British Columbia; Edmonton, Alberta; Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; Winnipeg, Manitoba; Toronto, Ontario; Montreal, Quebec, where two events will be held; and Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. All events are free and open to everyone.

For over a decade, AGE-WELL has served as a catalyst for technological innovation that supports older adults and caregivers, while driving Canada's growing AgeTech sector. AGE-WELL brings together researchers, innovators, older adults, caregivers, trainees and partner organizations to accelerate the delivery of technology-based solutions that make a meaningful difference in the lives of Canadians.
AGE-WELL has more than 200 technology-based solutions in development or already in use. These include communication platforms, smart home systems, wearables and remote therapies. AGE-WELL also supports over 75 startups that are bringing products to market, while contributing to job creation and economic growth.
