MUSIC DAY IN CANADA BRINGS 60+ CANADIAN ARTISTS TO STAGES ACROSS THE COUNTRY ON SEPTEMBER 26

20 cities and 20+ live events come together for one national day celebrating Canadian music, local venues and the communities that sustain them.

VANCOUVER, BC, Sept. 22, 2026 /CNW/ -- On Saturday, September 26, Music Day in Canada will connect stages across the country for one shared national celebration of Canadian music.

More than 60 artists across 20+ live events in 20 cities will perform as venues, music organizations, local producers and communities come together under one national banner.

From St. John's to Vancouver, Music Day in Canada is built around a simple idea: Canadian music is shaped locally, and those local scenes become stronger when the country pays attention together.

"Canada doesn't have one music scene. It has hundreds of them," says Michael Sriven,  Founder of Music Day In Canada.   "Music Day in Canada gives those communities a shared date and a national platform while keeping the artists, venues and people who build music locally at the centre of it."

The September 26 program stretches across genres, generations and types of stages.

In Saskatoon, six Saskatchewan acts will take over Gather Local Market for five hours of free live music. Edmonton will see multiple independent venues participating across the city. Oshawa will enjoy a free show at the Biltmore theatre featuring Wine Lips, The Anti-Queens, Shiv & the Carvers and Sigh Die . In Barrie, Brian John Harwood, Andy Colonico, Beasley and Graham Scott Fleming will come together for an all-country night at The Queens Hotel.

On the East Coast, events extend through St. John's, Antigonish, New Glasgow, Sydney, Charlottetown, Fredericton, Truro  and Moncton, while additional programming takes place in Winnipeg, Regina, Calgary, Mississauga, Abbotsford, Kelowna, Whitehorse and Vancouver.

Some events are free and all ages. Others take place in established independent music venues. Each city determines what Music Day looks and sounds like in its own community.

Music Day in Canada is led by The Lemmon Foundation, with Lemmon Entertainment curating and producing the national platform alongside local venues, producers, artists and music organizations.

Rather than building the same event in every market, Music Day connects existing local infrastructure and new community-led programming through coordinated national promotion, partnerships and visibility.

The model is designed to strengthen the people and places already doing the work: putting artists on stages, bringing audiences into local rooms and creating opportunities for Canadian music to be discovered live.

The day also connects to the Foundation's year-round work supporting artists and aspiring industry professionals through education, mentorship and professional development.
