Canadian bartenders share their Caesar recipes on NationalCaesarDay.com as coast to coast celebrations are planned
TORONTO, May 11, 2015 /CNW/ - Good manners, hockey and a perfectly mixed Caesar – now that's Canadian. This Thursday, Canucks everywhere are preparing to toast Canada's 'official' cocktail during the first-ever National Caesar Day on May 14th.
In Canada, more than 350 million Caesars are poured every year from coast to coast!i With variations like bacon-infused hot sauces, pickle washes, and even hamburger garnishes, the Caesar has been enjoyed here for decades, but it's a much different story south of the border. As Caesar lovers can attest after receiving many a blank stare when ordering this Canadian treasure, neither the Caesar salad nor the Bloody Mary can compare.
Canadians wanting to paint the town Clamato red on May 14th should follow the one-two-three-four-five rule for creating the basic Caesar. One ounce of Canada's Iceberg Vodka, two dashes of hot sauce, three grinds of salt and pepper, four drops of Worcestershire and five ounces of Mott's Clamato cocktail. Don't forget the celery salt rim and celery stick for a garnish!
For step-by-step video instructions from Canada's top bartenders on how to create the classic Caesar and fun variations on this iconic cocktail, visit www.NationalCaesarDay.com. From east coast styled garnishes to west coast flair, the site also offers fun facts on the Caesar and shows you how to make your own Clamato juice. At-home mixologists are also challenged to share their Caesar photos on Instagram using the hashtag #NationalCaesarDay.com for a chance to win a quintessentially Canadian bar kit.
If one thing is clear, a proper Caesar is Canadian through and through, from local ingredients to Canadian vodka and at-home mixes. Many export brands have tried and failed to capitalize upon the popularity of the Caesar as they lack true Canadian roots. Not the case for Canadian owned Iceberg Vodka which is hand-crafted in Newfoundland's Iceberg Alley with water from pure icebergs. They shine a spotlight on the Caesar all year-round, but in celebration of the first-ever National Caesar Day, Iceberg Vodka is offering mini Clamato juices with each bottle starting this summer.
Canadians may apologize for many things, but National Caesar Day won't be one of them. Cheers!
