Montréal, Cultural Metropolis launches At a Glance - "A festive, intelligent, forward-looking, creative and flourishing city"

MONTRÉAL, June 12, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - At an event held at the Maison-des-Marins at Pointe-à-Callière to highlight the cultural achievements of the past year, members of the steering committee of Montréal, Cultural Metropolis, applauded the creativity and commitment of Montreal's cultural community, which contributes to carrying out the 2007-2017 Action Plan, a true cultural road map for the city.

On this occasion, Mr. Alexandre Taillefer, Chair of the steering committee, thanked the members of the committee, the only one of its type in Canada, for their unfailing support and welcomed the successes of the creators and cultural organizations by saying: "Montréal is experiencing an effervescence that is reaching a record high, in this anniversary year. The impetus, that began already ten years ago, has since been translated into innumerable projects that embody the energy of the cultural milieu here in Montréal. The steering committee is proud to note that the synergy and commitment of all have been at the heart of the metamorphosis of our metropolis."

At a Glance, Montréal, Cultural Metropolis presents close to one hundred cultural achievements from the past year; this panorama reflects Montréal's cultural diversity, its proliferation and its vitality. It reveals the many facets of Montréal, a true cultural metropolis, festive, organized, memorable, creative, accessible, supportive and flourishing.

"The inauguration of the Michal and Renata Hornstein Pavilion for Peace at the Montréal Museum of Fine Arts, the literary success of Anaïs Barbeau-Lavalette, the nomination of Yannick Nézet-Seguin to the Metropolitan Opera House in New York and Marie Chouinard at the Venice Biennial, the reception of LA SERRE at the Monument-National and the new exhibition space Le Livart are among the achievements presented in this publication. We are reminded of their success in At a Glance, Montréal, Cultural Metropolis, which illustrates our city, both festive, intelligent, forward-looking, creative and flourishing," added Mr. Taillefer.
