TORONTO, Sept. 5, 2012 /CNW/ - Canadians' use of mobile devices to search for lawyers increased by 131% between 2011 and 2012, but lawyer websites aren't keeping up.
According to the just-released study from LexNetwork, an exclusive online marketing service for boutique law firms, iPhone continues to make up the largest segment of mobile device traffic (44%) but is losing market share to iPad and Android. The study also shows substantial variations in the use of mobile devices for different practice areas (criminal law clients, for example, are more likely than others to use mobile devices in their search for a lawyer).
Traci Feit Love, the Vice President of LexNetwork and a Harvard Law School graduate, advises law firms to think carefully about their mobile strategy: "Research from Google shows that smartphone users are highly likely to make a phone call after searching for a local firm. Without a mobile strategy in place, law firms are losing valuable leads to competitors who 'get' mobile."
