MLSE Foundation $200,000 Team Up Fund grant program returns for a third year
Grants will be awarded to four charitable organizations in Ontario.
TORONTO, Jan. 12, 2014 /CNW/ - The Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment (MLSE) Foundation $200,000 Team Up Fund community grant program is returning for a third year. This Fund gives Ontario charitable organizations the chance to receive one of four grants (each worth $50,000) that will support youth sports and recreation programs or assist in the refurbishment of sports/recreational facilities.
The MLSE Team Up Fund is an online competition where charities submit funding applications for specific youth programs or facility refurbishments which will impact the community and its youth in a positive way
"It's a fact - sport has the power to change lives, so we're thrilled to announce the launch of the third annual MLSE Team Up Fund," said Michael Bartlett, executive director, MLSE Foundation. "We're excited to learn more about the inspiring projects across Ontario which deliver opportunities for kids to participate in sports and recreation and to have the public help decide which projects we will invest in this year."
Last year, Brockville Rotary Park Revitalization and John Polanyi Collegiate Institute (Toronto Foundation For Student Success) received $50,000 grants towards improving their respective facilities and programs. Grandravine Special Program, Toronto Lords Community Association, Thorncliffe Neighbourhood Office and The Peer Project each received $25,000 towards their respective programs in GTA communities.
Charities will be able to submit their projects via an online application form starting Monday, January 13 until February 7, 2014. The applications will then be reviewed by a selection committee from February 10 to February 28, 2014. This committee is responsible for narrowing the applications down to the top 20. The public will then have the opportunity to vote for one of the top 20 applicants once per day starting March 3 to March 21, 2014. The four charities with the most votes will be the recipient of one of the four $50,000 grants. The official announcement of the four grant recipients will take place April 1, 2014.
Charitable organizations and those wishing to vote during the public voting process are asked to visit mlseteamupfund.org
