TORONTO, May 4, 2015 /CNW/ - Mercedes-Benz Canada and its national dealer network announced that it not only surpassed its previously established April sales record, but that its monthly sales performance reached an all-time high with a grand total of 4,221 units delivered. These sales results represented an increase of 25.2% or 850 units for April and pushed overall growth to 12.4% so far this year.
This month's record-breaking performance was attributable to Mercedes-Benz passenger cars and luxury light trucks being ahead by 28.6%. Mercedes-Benz Canada was pleased to report double digit growth for the B-Class and the C-Class up 17.1% and 64.4% respectively in April. Luxury light trucks sales were solid across the line with particularly buoyant performances by the GLA and GLK.
Mercedes-Benz Vans sales maintained their continued path of growth with April sales exceeding last year's results by 15.7% for a total of 1,446 units sold so far in 2015. Demand for the recently introduced Sprinter 4x4 contributed to achieving these results.
In April, the diesel take rate for luxury light trucks was 59.9%, while permanent all-wheel drive 4MATIC™ units accounted for 93.4% of overall passenger car and light truck sales (excluding smart).
smart reported a total of 66 vehicles sold in April.
The Mercedes-Benz Pre-Owned division recorded a total of 1,523 units sold for a staggering increase of 20.3%, resulting in the best April ever for pre-owned sales. This double digit growth was also observed in Certified Pre-Owned sales that reached a new all-time high with 1,352 units retailed for an increase of 32.4% month over month. For 2015, Certified Pre-Owned now accounts for 84.6 % of the total volume of pre-owned sales, up 5.4% when compared to last year.
"I am pleased that Mercedes-Benz Canada has maintained its performance cadence into the second quarter of 2015 by achieving record-breaking performances across the line", said Tim A. Reuss, President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Canada. "In April, the first Mercedes-AMG GT S started to arrive in Canada and have created tangible excitement among employees, dealers and some journalists who had the chance to test drive it on the track earlier this month. This standard setting vehicle draws on Mercedes' rich racing heritage, harnessing the raw spirit of AMG racetrack performance, in combination with superb everyday practicality. The GT S has already been hailed by Canadian media as a "true warrior" and "a sports-car purist's dream that's actually attainable". We look forward to being able to deliver customer cars shortly".
