TORONTO, Nov. 7, 2012 /CNW/ - Tim A. Reuss, President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Canada, was joined today by senior company executives to mark the official groundbreaking and the start of construction of a new, landmark retail facility in Vancouver, BC.
Situated on a large 7 acre site conveniently located on Lougheed Highway near the Trans-Canada Highway, Mercedes-Benz Lougheed will replace the existing Mercedes-Benz Boundary facility when construction is complete in 2014.
First opened in September 1999, Mercedes-Benz Boundary has outgrown its current 2 acre location.
The modern new Lougheed facility will significantly expand both the sales and aftersales capabilities for the company in this important area of Vancouver. The expansive property will also allow ample parking for visitors and a considerable amount of space to better accommodate new and Pre-Owned vehicle inventory. In addition, the new building will house Mercedes-Benz Canada's Western Region office, a regional training centre and a new Sprinter Centre for the Vancouver Retail Group.
The design and layout of the impressive new structure will follow the proprietary Mercedes-Benz "Autohaus" concept. The spacious, 36,700 square foot showroom will provide an ideal open concept environment to display the ever-growing and highly compelling Mercedes-Benz, AMG and smart vehicle range. The 26,960 square foot service area has been configured to efficiently meet the needs of clients with 34 service bays, including 3 larger bays dedicated to the Sprinter vans. In addition, it will include 6 wash and detailing stations, and a vehicle delivery centre and customer drive-in area that can accommodate up to 21 vehicles.
"The construction of the new Mercedes-Benz Lougheed facility represents a significant investment in the region, and the next phase of the continued redevelopment of Mercedes-Benz Canada's corporately owned Greater Vancouver Area retail infrastructure," said Tim A. Reuss, President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Canada. "This new landmark dealership more than doubles our current capacity, and demonstrates our steadfast commitment to best serving the needs of our many existing and potential customers in this very important market."
