Media notification to all information outlets - Demonstration in Ottawa to call out Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on his commitments on housing and homelessness

OTTAWA, Nov. 17, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - Compelled by a sense of urgency, hundreds of members from two important networks, the Front d'action populaire en réaménagement urbain (FRAPRU) and the Réseau SOLIDARITÉ Itinérance du Québec, will walk to the PM Justin Trudeau's office, barely a month after its election at the head of the country. Both networks want to make sure that the liberal government will respect the commitments it took during the electoral campaign and will go even further in the fight on housing and homelessness problems accross Canada.

Certain issues require fast actions from the government, as the expiration of the long-term subsidies to existing social housing that will directly impact 25 100 units in Canada by the end of 2015. It is also the case for the Homelessness Partnering Strategy's guidelines that need to me modified as soon as possible to return to a global approach, with an increased budget.

This demonstration is organized in the context of the Canadian Housing Day.

12h45: Press briefing at Confederation Park, corner Laurier and Elgin, in Ottawa
13h00: Gathering and departure of the demonstration from Confederation Park, corner Laurier
