OTTAWA, ON, Sept. 4, 2025 /CNW/ - Judges from the Supreme Court of Canada will visit Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, on September 14 and 15, 2025 as part of the Court's 150th anniversary commemorations.
Chief Justice Richard Wagner, Justice Nicholas Kasirer and Justice Michelle O'Bonsawin will take part in various events involving members of the public, high school students, the local legal and judicial communities, and the media.

Sunday, September 14
8:00 – Media Availability (open to media – preregistration is required)

Participation is in person or via Zoom (hybrid format)
Chief Justice Richard Wagner will make brief remarks and answer questions from journalists. The Chief Justice will be joined by Supreme Court Justices Nicholas Kasirer and Michelle O'Bonsawin as well as the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Northwest Territories, Shannon Smallwood, and the Chief Justice of the Court of Appeal for the Northwest Territories, Ritu Khullar. 10:00 – Public event: "Beyond the bench: a dialogue with Judges of the Supreme Court of Canada" (open to media – preregistration required)

Afternoon - Meeting with Elders at the Arctic Indigenous Wellness Foundation Outdoor Camp (closed to media)
Judges will meet with Elders and tour the Arctic Indigenous Wellness Foundation Outdoor Camp.
Evening – Event with the legal community (closed to media)
Judges will take part in an event with members of the local legal community.
Monday, September 15
Morning – Visit to the Wellness/IPVTO Court (closed to media)
Judges will meet with staff of the Wellness Court and Intimate Partner Violence Treatment Options Court in Yellowknife.
Morning – Visits to local secondary schools (closed to media)
Judges will meet with students at three local secondary schools and answer their questions on our judicial system.
Afternoon – Event with Debating Club and Students (closed to media)
Judges will take part in an event with students and members of the debating club.
Evening – Event with articling students and young lawyers (closed to media)
Judges will interact with lawyers recently called to the bar.
