TORONTO, Oct. 24, 2013 /CNW/ - Tomorrow, October 25th, is Small Business Day in Canada. Following up on Canada's successful Small Business Saturday in 2012, this day gives Canadians a chance to recognize the important contributions of small businesses in their communities, and to show their support by choosing to Shop Small Biz.
The focal point of the day is the www.shopsmallbiz.ca website, which allows Canadians to make a conscious choice to shop at small, independent businesses by allowing them to find deals right in their own communities.
"There are dozens of deal sites out there," said CFIB president Dan Kelly. "But www.shopsmallbiz.ca is a free, uniquely Canadian directory focusing exclusively on small, independently-owned businesses that allows consumers to connect with local small businesses. For small business owners, the directory functions as an easy-to-use marketing tool that allows them to promote themselves to Canadian consumers and each other."
Small Business Day is being recognized by political and business leaders across the country, including federal Natural Resources Minister Joe Oliver, who will join Kelly (@CFIB) tomorrow in Toronto, visiting participating small businesses in the city.
