MEDIA ADVISORY - In Ottawa: Protection of Children Within the Peace and Security Agenda

TORONTO and OTTAWA, May 26, 2017 /CNW/ - On Monday, May 29, Canadian journalist, commentator and author Carol Off will moderate a discussion on the issue of children in armed conflict with the Minister of Defence, The Honourable Harjit Singh Sajjan, retired Lieutenant-General Roméo Dallaire, and South Sudanese child refugee James Thuch Madhier. This high-level non-partisan event is organized by leading Canadian child rights organizations Save the Children, the Roméo Dallaire Child Soldiers Initiative, UNICEF Canada and World Vision Canada, and will bring together Canadians who have direct experience with children in armed conflict to consider the leadership role Canada can play in helping keep children safe in war as Canada considers the best approaches to take in fulfilling its commitment on peacekeeping.
