McMillan recognized - again - as one of the best places to work in Ottawa

OTTAWA, Nov. 2 /CNW Telbec/ - McMillan was recently named - for the second year in a row - one of the top 10 places to work in Ottawa when it was honoured as a recipient of a 2009-10 Employees' Choice Award.

"Receiving this honour last year really inspired us to stay focused on the quality of work life here at the agency," says Gordon McMillan, founder and president of McMillan. "We took a hard look at our team's responses to last year's survey and made some changes that I think made McMillan an even better place to work. Even through some very difficult economic times, our team is still passionate and motivated. I'm honoured that they continue to think so highly of the company."

Among the changes McMillan introduced are town hall meetings to provide more information to staff and regular one-on-one meetings between individuals and their managers. "Show and tell" and "lunch and learn" sessions allow project teams to present their work and share what they learned in the process.

About the Awards

The Employees' Choice Awards program honours organizations within Canada's National Capital Region that recognize employees as their greatest asset. These are organizations that work with imagination and conviction to create organizational value and business results through their policies and best practices in human resource management. The selection, recognition, and awarding of the Employees' Choice Awards allows organizations to demonstrate why they are an ideal place for employees to work.

The Employees' Choice Awards program is operated by the Ottawa Business Journal and the selection committee consists of volunteer experts from various Ottawa organizations.
