On April 6, 2016, McDonald's restaurants in Ontario and across Canada will host the sixth annual National Hiring Day. Together with its franchisees, McDonald's Canada aims to recruit a record 7,000 employees in one day – with more than 3,000 of those potential employees in Ontario.
"We're committed to growing the careers of young people, as well as providing all employees with the relevant and in-demand skills that set them up for success," said Victor Rocca, Regional Vice President, McDonald's Canada. "This includes everything from customer service, leadership, communication, time management and problem solving – we call these Skills for Life."
McDonald's considers training an essential part of its business and integral to employee growth. For young people who might be starting their working careers, McDonald's teaches valuable skills they can take with them well into the future. For people returning to the workforce, a job at McDonald's allows them to apply and grow their skills in a flexible work environment.
National Hiring Day is an opportunity for job seekers to learn about McDonald's, apply for a position, and possibly even get interviewed on the spot. Positions include: restaurant management, crew, and new hospitality and customer service roles.
"We invite job seekers across the province to come into a restaurant, or apply online to one of the many positions we have available," said Rocca. "You never know where a job at McDonald's could lead you. In fact, more than 90 per cent of our restaurant managers, half of our franchisees, and almost 60 per cent of our top management started off as crew."
