Famiglia De Cerchio expands its presence in Atlantic Canada through Alcool NB Liquor
FREDERICTON, NB, Oct. 14, 2026 /CNW/ -- Following its success across Canada, Famiglia De Cerchio, the family-owned Italian wine producer with more than a century of winemaking history in Abruzzo, today announced that Madia – Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC has secured a General Listing with Alcool NB Liquor (ANBL).
Madia will now be available through ANBL stores across New Brunswick and online at ANBL.com, further expanding the family's distribution across Canada and providing consumers with greater access to its organically farmed Montepulciano d'Abruzzo.
Produced by Torre Zambra in Villamagna, Abruzzo, Madia is made from 100% Montepulciano and reflects the family's long-standing connection to the grape and the region. The Torre Zambra estate sits on the original land acquired by the De Cerchio family in 1910 and is today recognized as one of the historic wineries of Abruzzo. The first Torre Zambra vintage was bottled in 1961.
"New Brunswick consumers have a sophisticated palate for Italian wines. To be on General Listing with ANBL is a milestone for Torre Zambra and for our family in Atlantic Canada," said Federico De Cerchio, owner of Famiglia De Cerchio. "Madia is a wine that reflects where we come from while offering the freshness and versatility that make Montepulciano so compelling."
The New Brunswick listing represents another step in the family's continued expansion in the Canadian market, building distribution for Torre Zambra alongside its broader portfolio of wines from southern Italy.
Madia has been recognized in the Canadian market for its organic production and regional character, including an 89-point review from WineAlign for the 2022 vintage.

About Famiglia De Cerchio
Founded in 1910, Famiglia De Cerchio traces its roots to Vincenzo De Cerchio, who planted the family's first Montepulciano and Trebbiano vines in Villamagna, Abruzzo. Following the destruction of the vineyards during World War II, his son-in-law Laurentino De Cerchio rebuilt the estate, and in 1961, the first vintage of Torre Zambra was bottled. Today, fourth-generation family member Federico De Cerchio carries on the family's commitment to native Italian grape varieties, sustainable farming and terroir driven wines. The group's estates include Torre Zambra and Idi di Marzo in Abruzzo, along with Pajaru and Peri Peri in southern Italy, with a focus on sustainable and organic vineyard management.
