Organic Montepulciano d'Abruzzo from Idi di Marzo is now permanently available through Manitoba Liquor Marts
WINNIPEG, MB, Oct. 13, 2026 /CNW/ -- Famiglia De Cerchio, the family-owned Italian wine producer with more than a century of winemaking history in Abruzzo, today announced that Vulgaris – Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC from Idi di Marzo has secured a General Listing with Manitoba Liquor & Lotteries.
Beginning this month, Vulgaris will be permanently available at participating Liquor Mart locations across Manitoba and online at LiquorMarts.ca, expanding access to the family's organically farmed expression of one of Abruzzo's signature native grape varieties.
Produced at the family's Idi di Marzo estate in Villamagna, Abruzzo, Vulgaris is made from 100% Montepulciano. The wine is designed to showcase the grape's natural fruit character and freshness while reflecting the identity of the Villamagna growing area. The Idi di Marzo estate was established in 2010 to mark 100 years of the De Cerchio family's connection to viticulture in Abruzzo.
"Manitoba is a key market for us. Achieving a General Listing with Liquor & Lotteries confirms the growing love for authentic, organic Montepulciano in Canada. Vulgaris is our everyday wine with a noble soul," said Federico De Cerchio, owner of Famiglia De Cerchio. "Vulgaris is a truly authentic expression of Montepulciano that is organically farmed and accessible enough to enjoy every day."
Vulgaris has also received recognition from international wine critics, including a 92-point review from Wine Enthusiast for the 2024 vintage, which described the wine as combining ripe dark fruit with savory, earthy and peppery notes.

About Famiglia De Cerchio
Founded in 1910, Famiglia De Cerchio traces its roots to Vincenzo De Cerchio, who planted the family's first Montepulciano and Trebbiano vines in Villamagna, Abruzzo. Following the destruction of the vineyards during World War II, his son-in-law Laurentino De Cerchio rebuilt the estate, and in 1961, the first vintage of Torre Zambra was bottled. Today, fourth-generation family member Federico De Cerchio carries on the family's commitment to native Italian grape varieties, sustainable farming and terroir driven wines. The group's estates include Torre Zambra and Idi di Marzo in Abruzzo, along with Pajaru and Peri Peri in southern Italy, with a focus on sustainable and organic vineyard management.
