MONTREAL, Nov. 22, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - Luc Beauregard, founder of NATIONAL Public Relations and RES PUBLICA Consulting Group, was honoured posthumously today with the title of Officer of the Order of Canada, at an official investiture ceremony at Rideau Hall presided over by the Governor General of Canada, His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston. The insignia of Officer of the Order of Canada was presented to Michelle Beauregard, Mr. Beauregard's widow, in the presence of his daughter, Valérie Beauregard, executive vice-president, and Jean-Pierre Vasseur, president and CEO, both of RES PUBLICA.
"This award is, in a sense, the ultimate acknowledgment of Luc's remarkable career and outstanding community achievements," said Mr. Vasseur. "He not only made an indelible mark on the public relations industry across Canada, but he was also an exemplary citizen who supported many social and humanitarian causes throughout his life, thereby contributing to the well-being of his city, his province and his country."
The following text was read out during the investiture ceremony: "Luc Beauregard was a builder in the field of public relations and a man who promoted ethical values in his personal and professional life. As founding chairman of RES PUBLICA Consulting Group Inc., he took his company to the international stage. He was active in professional associations as well as organizations involved in education, health and the arts, and co-founded and chaired Public Relations Without Borders, putting his chosen discipline to use in helping humanitarian causes in developing countries. As a testament to his leadership in public relations, the Luc Beauregard Centre of Excellence in Communications Research was created at Concordia University."
Mr. Beauregard was appointed Member of the Order of Canada in 1996. This past July, just weeks before his death and his 72nd birthday, he was promoted to the rank of Officer for his more recent achievements and his continued outstanding service to his country. He was also named a Knight of the Ordre national du Québec earlier in 2013.
