LOTTO MAX Hits the MAX: Estimated $50 Million Jackpot And An Estimated Ten

TORONTO, July 14 /CNW/ - It has only been a matter of weeks since the last MAXMILLIONS draw, but this Friday Canadians have yet another chance to win the estimated $50 million LOTTO MAX jackpot, as well as an estimated ten additional MAXMILLIONS $1 million prizes.

So how did we get here so quickly? Lottery players are benefiting from the 20 MAXMILLIONS prizes that were not won in the June 25 draw, as all 20 were added to the following jackpot - creating a $30 million base jackpot. This jackpot has rolled for two consecutive weeks allowing the top prize to reach an estimated $50 million once again.

"The great thing about this game is that it ensures MAXMILLIONS prizes that are not won in one draw, are still available for players in the next draw," said Wendy Montgomery, Vice-President of Lottery Marketing at OLG.

MAXMILLIONS are additional $1 million prizes, added to the game when the jackpot reaches $50 million. MAXMILLIONS prizes are drawn separately from the LOTTO MAX jackpot draw, which means that a LOTTO MAX ticket not only gives players a chance at $50 million but also the chance to win any of the $1 million MAXMILLIONS draws on the same date.

The June 25 LOTTO MAX jackpot draw for $50 million was split between two winning tickets from Saskatchewan and Newfoundland.

Since the game launched in September 2009, LOTTO MAX players in Ontario have won just under $154 million in prizes, including three jackpot wins and 45 MAXMILLIONS prizes.

Players can purchase tickets at authorized OLG retailers until 9 p.m. on Friday, July 16, 2010.

OLG is a provincial agency responsible for province-wide lottery games and gaming facilities. Since 1975, OLG lotteries, casinos, slots, and resort casinos have generated more than $32 billion for the benefit of the Province of Ontario. Gaming proceeds support Ontario's hospitals, amateur sport, recreational and cultural activities, communities, provincial priority programs such as health care and education, and local and provincial charities and non-profit organizations through the Ontario Trillium Foundation.
