Where in the world is Carson going?
TORONTO, Sept. 10, 2026 /CNW/ -- As the saying goes, "the world is your oyster" and that is very true for Carson R. of Kitchener, the winner of OLG's 'The Beautiful Getaway' contest. Carson won a $100,000 travel experience, which includes a $50,000 travel voucher and a $50,000 cash prize.
'The Beautiful Getaway' contest was an exciting part of OLG's partnership as an Official Toronto World Cup 2026 Host City Supporter during this summer's global soccer spectacular that took place in Toronto, Vancouver and across North America.
The 26-year-old was still in shock when he arrived at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to collect his grand prize. "When I received an email saying I had won the contest, I didn't believe it was legit," said Carson. "It wasn't until I got a phone call from OLG, that it started to sink it. It's unbelievable!"
Carson enjoys playing LOTTO MAX, LOTTO 6/49 and POWERBUCKS™ and usually purchases his tickets on OLG.ca. That's where he first learned about the contest. "I don't usually enter these types of contests unless the prize is really significant," he explained. "A $100,000 travel experience was too good to pass up!"
Carson proved he could keep a secret, choosing to wait until he collected his prize before sharing the exciting win with his family. "I was planning on surprising my parents with the news about winning the contest after everything was official. Trying to go about my normal routine while sitting on the news was not easy."
Now that secret is out, Carson is looking ahead to the adventures that await. With so many possibilities, narrowing down a destination may be the biggest challenge yet. "There are so many choices and, so far at the top of the list are the South Pacific islands of Bora Bora, along with some European countries and hopefully, one day, Cuba," said Carson excitedly. One destination holds special significance for his family. "My dad is from Jamaica, so I think a trip there will definitely be part of the plan. It would be very special to share this experience with my family.
Carson, who is a welder by trade, says he gets two weeks' vacation each year and plans to make the very most of his time off now that he won this $100,000 travel experience prize.
Carson is not the only person celebrating OLG's connection to the World Cup. As part of OLG's partnership with Toronto as an Official World Cup 2026 Host City Supporter, OLG is proud to be investing in the growth of soccer across the province through its partnerships with Ontario Soccer and the City of Toronto's Soccer for All Legacy program. The investment will support the training of more than 11,000 coaches and match officials over the next two years.
OLG is overjoyed to be bringing home the win for Carson and the thousands of people connected to soccer across Ontario.
