Jim Popp's statement

MONTREAL, Nov. 7, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - The Montreal Alouettes announced today that Jim Popp, the Club's General Manager for the past 21 years, will not be returning to the team next year. "It has been an incredible journey.  I have tremendous love and respect for the fans, the great city of Montreal, the province of Quebec, the Wetenhall family, upper management, football operations, the coaches and support staff I have worked with over the years, and especially, the thousands of players I have had the privilege of knowing during my 21 years of service."

After 19 consecutive years making the playoffs, the Als fell short in the last two seasons.   "When a team doesn't meet expectations, every General Manager and Head Coach understands that it may be time to make a change.  I understand this and wish to thank everyone for a great run in Montreal."  Jim believes that the foundation of the team is set to return to more success in the short term and wishes the entire organization the best of luck.

"The City of Montreal will always be very special to me: I got engaged to the most incredible woman here, and my six wonderful children were all born here. I also had the privilege of participating in three Grey Cup parades through the streets of Montreal. I will bring all of these good memories and so many more to my next opportunity in this great sport."
