J.P. Towner has accepted the role of Senior Advisor with Sycamore Partners; Alain Ménard appointed as President and Chief Executive Officer at RONA

BOUCHERVILLE, QC, Sept. 16, 2026 /CNW/ -- RONA inc. today announced the appointment of Alain Ménard as President and Chief Executive Officer. He will succeed J.P. Towner, who has accepted the role of Senior Advisor with Sycamore Partners, RONA's owner, and will also serve on RONA's Board of Directors. These changes will take effect on October 1, 2026.

J.P. and Alain will continue to work closely together to sustain the momentum built in recent years and support RONA's next phase of growth.

This transition builds on the key achievements under J.P. Towner's leadership. Over the past three years, RONA has united three banners under a single brand, delivered some of the industry's strongest growth in its PRO and digital businesses, significantly increased the share of sales generated by its private brands, launched shop-in-shop concepts with major national brands and recruited new affiliated dealers. The company has also developed a more agile and entrepreneurial culture, improved productivity and been recognized as one of the best workplaces in retail.

In his new role, J.P. will work with Sycamore Partners to continue advancing RONA's strategy and provide his expertise on key priorities and decisions.

Alain Ménard will take the helm of RONA with a focus on sustaining the momentum of recent years and advancing the company's strategy. He will draw on his extensive retail experience, deep knowledge of the affiliated dealer model and strong understanding of RONA's operations and culture. Since joining RONA in January 2024 as Senior Vice-President, RONA Affiliated Dealers, he has built strong relationships across the organization.
