In Canada, Alstom opens new opportunities for Indigenous-owned businesses and launches dedicated supplier registration portal

• Recent major contract awards are creating opportunities for qualified suppliers to support Alstom's projects across Canada

SAINT-BRUNO, QC, Sept. 28, 2026 /CNW/ -- As part of its ongoing commitment to reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples in Canada, Alstom is launching a dedicated registration portal for Indigenous-owned businesses to present their capabilities directly to its procurement team and pursue opportunities linked to the company's newest Canadian contracts. The initiative complements a broader call for qualified businesses to join Alstom's Canada-based supplier network.

Recent major contract awards, including the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC)  New Subway Trains program and VIA Rail's Long-Distance, Regional and Remote Fleet renewal, give Alstom Canada an opportunity to broaden its supplier base and build relationships with businesses that can support current and future projects.

Alstom is seeking suppliers with capabilities across areas including manufacturing and industrial services, rail and transportation, construction and infrastructure, professional services, information technology, logistics, maintenance, and operational support. Businesses may be considered as direct suppliers, subcontractors, service providers or strategic partners, depending on project needs and procurement requirements.

A new Indigenous supplier registration process

As part of this initiative, Alstom Canada is introducing a dedicated Indigenous supplier registration process. The new portal gives Indigenous-owned businesses a straightforward way to share information about their ownership, certifications, capabilities, experience, and geographic reach directly with Alstom's procurement team.

The Indigenous supplier registration portal supports Alstom Canada's broader commitment to reconciliation and inclusive economic growth. Alstom recognizes the important contribution Indigenous entrepreneurs and businesses make to Canada's economy and to the long-term success of the transportation industry. By reducing barriers to connection and improving visibility into Indigenous business capabilities, Alstom aims to foster economic participation and develop lasting, mutually beneficial relationships.

This initiative builds on Alstom Canada's formal commitment to Indigenous Peoples and its participation in the Partnership Accreditation Indigenous Relations (PAIR) program. Developed by the Canadian Council for Indigenous Business, PAIR is a nationally recognized framework supporting progressive Indigenous relations and focusing on continuous improvement in leadership actions, employment, business development and community relations. Alstom Canada is also onboarded in the CCIB's Supply Change Program, with the Indigenous Advocate status, confirming our commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for Indigenous Businesses.
