Grande-Rivière recreation centre and multi-purpose sports field to be improved for Canada's 150th anniversary Français
Government of Canada awards more than $610,000 to support these two community projects
GRANDE-RIVIÈRE, QC, Aug. 11, 2017 /CNW/ - [Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)] - Key local stakeholders have long been asking for concrete, sustainable measures to improve community and recreational infrastructure. As part of the Canada 150 celebrations, the Government of Canada is proud to support projects like those of the City of Grande-Rivière and the Comité des loisirs de Grande-Rivière, which contribute to the strength and vitality of all regions of the country.
Acting on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED, the Honourable Diane Lebouthillier, Minister of National Revenue and Member of Parliament for Gaspésie–Les Îles-de-la-Madeleine, announced today that more than $610,000 in financial assistance, in the form of two non-repayable contributions, has been granted to these organizations.
The City of Grande-Rivière has been awarded $500,000 through the Canada 150 Community Infrastructure Program (CIP150). The funding will go toward renovations to the Grande-Rivière recreation centre. The work includes roof repairs; insulation of the foundation and exterior walls; replacement of the boards, bay windows, showers and locker rooms; and installation of a new heating and dehumidification system.
Still under the CIP150, the Government of Canada granted $110,772 to the Comité des loisirs de Grande-Rivière to rehabilitate the multi-purpose sports field, for which drainage, levelling, backfilling and site work has recently been completed.
