Gateway Casinos & Entertainment announces the Opening of the Cascades Casino in Kamloops

KAMLOOPS, BC, Aug. 19, 2015 /CNW/ - Gateway Casinos & Entertainment ("Gateway") is thrilled to open its doors at Cascades Casino Kamloops, a $40 million, first-class gaming and entertainment destination in the heart of Kamloops.

With a design inspiration built around "Play", Cascades Casino Kamloops is entertainment redefined featuring   65,000 square feet of premium entertainment space,  a spectacular gaming floor, live entertainment and many dining options to suit any taste, including Gateway's signature restaurants MATCH Eatery & Public House and the debut of Atlas Steak + Fish, the new fine dining restaurant.

Over 600 community members and leaders were invited for a grand opening ceremony with Canadian recording artist and 6-time Juno winner, Colin James, followed by a larger celebration with customers.  During the night's festivities Gateway Gives – Gateway's community and charitable program – was proud to fundraise for the Royal Inland Hospital Foundation, the official charity for the grand opening.

With almost 25 years' experience in the Canadian gaming industry, Gateway has been a proud member of the Kamloops community for more than 20 years.   This new project helped boost the local economy during construction with increased purchasing and use of local suppliers and businesses.  With the opening of the Cascades Kamloops, an additional new 200 permanent jobs have been added with an estimated annual payroll of $7 million.

Cascades Casino Kamloops is the first Gateway property to be unveiled as part of an ambitious redevelopment strategy to dramatically improve the customer experience by creating a complete entertainment destination that offers customers much more than just gaming. New redevelopment projects are currently underway at two Gateway properties in Edmonton, AB.

• Cascades Kamloops will employ 330 people, which creates 200 new positions for people in the community. All new employees started customer service training in July. During construction, almost 200 construction jobs were created.
• The new 65,000 square foot property will offer guests more dining and other entertainment options, including three restaurants and space for live entertainment. The 30,000 square foot gaming floor offers 500 slot machines and 18 table games.
