Every minute of action from PyeongChang 2018 Paralympic Winter Games to be broadcast in Canada Français

PYEONGCHANG, South Korea, March 5, 2018 /CNW/ - It will be easier than ever for people across the country to watch the Canadian Paralympic Team compete as every event of the PyeongChang 2018 Paralympic Winter Games will be available for viewing in Canada.
Through traditional television broadcasts as well as digital platforms, the Canadian Paralympic Committee Media Consortium, including CBC/Radio-Canada, Sportsnet, AMI, Twitter, and Facebook will bring every minute of action from PyeongChang to Canada. Presenting sponsors of the broadcast are Bell, CIBC, Canadian Tire, Sport Chek, Petro-Canada, and Toyota.
Television coverage featured daily
A total of 125 hours will be aired on television throughout the 10 days of the Games.
CBC/Radio-Canada will air live coverage of the Opening and Closing Ceremonies in English and French. CBC will also provide live coverage on Saturday mornings from 6-10 a.m. ET (3-7 a.m. PT) and Sunday mornings from 6-9:30 a.m. ET (3-6:30 a.m. PT). CBC will also air coverage on weekdays from 4-6 p.m. (4:30-6:30 p.m. NT) in Canadians' local time zones, and on weekend afternoons. Radio-Canada will air a daily French-language highlights show on weekend afternoons from 3-5 p.m. ET and on weeknights at 11 p.m.
Sportsnet One will air re-broadcasts of the competition from PyeongChang daily. Times will vary each day.
AMI will air daily shows highlighting the action from the Games in addition to re-broadcasting CBC coverage with descriptive video with reporter/host Anthony McLachlan.
Every event will be live streamed and available on demand
Canadian viewers will be able to follow any event of their choosing from all five sports – Para alpine, Para ice hockey, Para nordic, Para snowboard, and wheelchair curling – as coverage of every competition at the Games will be live streamed online across the following platforms: Facebook Live, Twitter Live, Paralympic.ca, cbcsports.ca/paralympics, and Radio-Canada.ca/jeuxparalympiques. Live streaming will be available with English and French commentary.
Following the conclusion of live coverage, the events can also be watched on demand.
Described video will be offered on all 38 hours of CBC's television coverage, and on the simulcast digital live-streams of live broadcasts and the broadcasts from the Atlantic time zone if aired locally, provided by Descriptive Video Works and Accessible Media. Radio-Canada's coverage of the Ceremonies, the weekend broadcasts, and the digital simulcasts of this coverage will be available with described video.
Facebook and Twitter users can become broadcasters
Starting today, people across Canada can visit greatnessisrare.ca to sign up to become a broadcaster of the Paralympic Games on their Facebook or Twitter account. Users can choose the events they wish to share and their selections will automatically appear in their feeds as a Facebook Live or Twitter Live video, broadcasting the events to all of their friends and followers.
The "Be a Broadcaster" feature is part of the Canadian Paralympic Committee's Greatness is Rare campaign, encouraging all people across Canada to witness the talents of the country's Paralympians on their quest for gold.
World-class broadcast team to keep Canadians informed
A talented team of experienced broadcasters and Paralympic medallists will be bringing coverage of the Games to people across Canada.
CBC's broadcast team will include hosts Scott Russell, who will be on-site in PyeongChang, Andi Petrillo and Stephanie Dixon. They will be joined by reporters Lauren Woolstencroft and Josh Dueck, two of Canada's finest-ever Para alpine skiers. In the commentary booths will be Chris Daw, Paul Rosen, and Rob Snoek.
French viewers will be treated to host Marie-Jose Turcotte, who will be joined by Chantal Petitclerc for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, as well as reporters Jean St-Onge and Benoit Huot. Play-by-play broadcasters and analysts will include Michel Chabot, Rodrigue Gilbert, Gilles Gagnon, Jean-Thomas Boily, Philippe Crepeau, Jocelyn Huot, Christian Hrab, Justine Boutet, and Carl Marquis.
In addition, Para swimmer Huot, a 20-time Paralympic medallist, and Para ice hockey player Kevin Rempel, a bronze medallist in Sochi, will be bringing fresh video content to people across Canada as reporters for the media consortium. Huot also was part of the Sochi 2014 broadcast team, while Rempel is making his debut.
Coverage kicks off Friday March 9 at 5:30 a.m. ET
CBC/Radio-Canada will be broadcasting the Opening Ceremony live across Canada on Friday. CBC will kick off its English-language coverage with a preview show starting at 5:30 a.m. ET with the Opening Ceremony commencing at 6 a.m. ET on CBC and Radio-Canada.
CBC will also air an encore on Friday primetime at 8 p.m. across all Canadian time zones, while Radio-Canada will air a repeat of the Opening Ceremony at 11 p.m.
