Introducing a sleek new metal Card design, the upgraded Platinum Card lets you earn more on eligible dining and travel
TORONTO, Feb. 13, 2019 /CNW/ - Today, American Express Canada unveils an enhanced earn rate benefit for new and existing Platinum Cardmembers. Starting today, Cardmembers earn more points on eligible dining and travel purchases, opening a whole new world of experiences. Cardmembers will continue to earn points on all other Card purchases big and small.
The Platinum Card makes it even easier to enjoy moments that matter, with new earn rates which meet the lifestyle needs of it's Cardmembers. Platinum Cardmembers now earn more on eligible dining and travel, including:
- 3 points for every $1 in Card purchases on eligible dining in Canada
- 2 points for every $1 in Card purchases on eligible travel
- 1 point for every $1 in all other Card purchases

Bringing the Platinum Experience to Life
To celebrate the official launch of the upgraded Platinum Card and as a preview for Dinner With A View, Amex Canada will host an exclusive dining experience on February 13 with a special menu curated by Top Chef Canada Winner Chef René Rodriguez. Guests will dine in clear frameless geodesic domes, designed to marry an elevated culinary experience with a unique view. The Dinner With A View dining series will arrive to Toronto in March [March 28-May 2] and to Montreal in April [April 16- May 18].
Amex Cardmembers will receive access to exclusive presale tickets and pricing to the Dinner With A View events starting February 14 with tickets opening to the public on February 19 at www.dinnerwithaview.ca.
New Travel-Inspired Creative Platform for the Platinum Card
The improved Platinum Card benefits showcase an increased focus on rewards which elevate the travel and lifestyle habits of its Cardmembers. To align, American Express Canada is debuting an entirely new, travel and dining inspired creative advertising platform that invites consumers to explore the world with The Platinum Card.
This includes a multi-channel campaign which is comprised of Connected TV, digital and social ads and partnerships with over 45 influencers, aimed at targeting the Platinum audience through stories that showcase what it's like to live the Platinum Life.
The new creative platform, developed by McGarry Bowen for American Express globally, was localized by Ogilvy Canada to showcase the specific benefits of the Canadian product and speaks to the unforgettable moments Platinum Cardmembers experience while traveling the globe or staying local.
Social video and content was developed by Notch Video, with UM Canada overseeing media buying, North Strategic managing PR and influencers and BT/A handling experiential events.
