DLA Piper adds Investment Funds Partner James O'Shea in Toronto
TORONTO, Sept. 21, 2026 /CNW/ -- DLA Piper has added James O'Shea as a Partner in its Investment Funds practice in Toronto, further strengthening its private funds capabilities in Canada.
O'Shea counsels international and Canadian clients across the private funds landscape, including global asset managers, leading institutional investors, emerging sponsors, and family offices. His practice focuses on private fund formation, fund investments, fund structuring, and ongoing management throughout the fund lifecycle. He also advises on co-investments, carried interest arrangements, continuation vehicles, and other GP-led transactions across the private capital space. He is admitted to practice in Ontario and as a solicitor in England and Wales.
"Canada remains a key market for private capital activity, and we continue to see growing demand from sponsors and investors for sophisticated, cross-border advice," said Russel Drew, the firm's Canada CEO. "James's experience and international perspective align closely with how our clients operate and where the market is headed."
"Private markets participants increasingly need seamless advice across jurisdictions, asset classes, and investment structures," said David Parrish, Global Head of Private Capital. "James has built a practice at the intersection of those needs, making him a strong addition to our global platform and building on the support we provide to clients throughout the fund lifecycle."
