David Fulford named new vice-president of research and policy at Colleges Ontario
TORONTO, Feb. 26, 2018 /CNW/ - David Fulford, a former assistant deputy minister at the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development, will become the new vice-president of research and policy at Colleges Ontario.
"This is a terrific opportunity to champion and augment the excellent work being done at our colleges," said Fulford, who begins his new role March 5.
"College education is fundamental to Ontario's prosperity and to helping young people pursue rewarding and meaningful careers. I'm looking forward to exploring new ways to build on the colleges' many strengths."
Fulford brings more than 30 years of public sector experience to the new position, including a variety of senior roles in the Ontario government.
He recently retired as the assistant deputy minister in the employment and training division at the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development (MAESD). Prior to that, he served as an assistant deputy minister in the corporate management and services division for the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. During his time at MAESD, he was the executive champion for diversity and inclusion for three years.
He is a champion for the Institute for Public Administration Canada (IPAC), having spoken at numerous conferences, worked in Lithuania with its government on behalf of IPAC, and most recently co-chaired the IPAC leadership conference. As well, he is a guest lecturer at the University of Waterloo.
Fulford, a graduate of the University of Toronto and the Ivey executive program at Western University, has also been an assistant deputy minister at the Ministry of Finance and a director in the Management Board Secretariat.
Colleges Ontario is the advocacy organization for the province's public colleges. There are more than 240,000 full-time students and 300,000 part-time students enrolled in the 900 programs at the 24 colleges.
