TORONTO, May 8, 2013 /CNW/ - A year-and-a-half after a major re-brand and re-launch, Citizen Optimum has been named Canadian Agency of the Year by The Holmes Report, a global standard bearer for the public relations industry. The award recognizes the agency for its growth in both size and scope, citing the expansion of revenue, clients and expertise.
"Our new brand has been a boost, but there's more to the story than a different logo," said Citizen Optimum's general manager, Nick Cowling. "I've always been proud of the work we've done, but we've clearly found a new gear. Even before we changed our name, we introduced new people, new expertise, and a new spirit of enthusiasm for our trade - in all its growing variations."
The company also received a Gold Sabre award for their work with Tourism British Columbia. The award - one of two nominations for Citizen Optimum - was presented at this week's global Sabre Awards gala in New York City.
Citizen Optimum has been a long-term force in the consumer public relations realm, boasting a long-standing relationship with Procter & Gamble and an unmatched list of retailer clients. Over the past two years, the agency formally expanded to offer corporate and public affairs services, and, in 2012, created specialist teams focused on editorial, social media and content creation.
"We've grown our team, we've grown our offering, and great client work has followed very naturally," said Cowling. "As our industry takes shape around the growing art of conversation-making, our agency has similarly rounded into form."
Illustrating the variety of its work, since re-branding, Citizen Optimum has won new partnerships with the following clients: Bayer, Capital One, Egg Farmers of Canada, Sleeman Breweries Inc., Best Buy Canada Inc., Future Shop, Trinity Developments, CitiCore Developments, American Medical Systems, Maple Leaf Foods, Calloway REIT, and Procter & Gamble Corporate. This work has included public relations, social media and digital content, community and influencer strategies, public affairs, and a range of corporate communications mandates.
