MONTREAL, July 2, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - After eight years of perfecting and applying its international qualification framework in accompanying businesses abroad, Mercadex International has received major recognition from the International Journal of Business and Management (IJBM) for the publication of its feature article, Evaluating the Firm's Readiness for Internationalization : from the Design to the Application of an International Qualification Framework, co-authored by Jean-Paul David and Guillaume Cariou, president and director, respectively of Mercadex International.
The article calls into question the relevance of traditional "export diagnostic" frameworks which have been used for more than 20 years in the evaluation of the firm's capacities for exporting. Considering the significant changes having impacted international trade since the fall of the Berlin Wall (free trade, growth in information technologies, convergence in consumption patterns, etc.) a gap has widened between the reality of international business and its conditions for success on the one hand, and the evaluation criteria used by export diagnostic frameworks on the other.
This is why an alternative solution is presented: CHROME®, an acronym of the first letter of the six dimensions upon which the international qualification of the firm is based: Competencies, Heritage, Relationships, Offerings, Means and Engagement. Beyond uniquely evaluating the firm's capacities to export, this new tool takes into consideration all possible strategies for success on the international stage: import-export, strategic alliances, licensing, franchising, foreign direct investment, joint ventures, etc.
The CHROME® framework should be of particular interest to economic development entities, financial institutions, investment funds and consulting firms that must evaluate internationalization projects and the capacities of their client firms to move into foreign markets in order to offer them the appropriate support (subsidies, financing, investments, guidance, etc.).
Founded in 1994, Mercadex International is a consulting firm specializing in internationalization strategy and accompanying businesses into foreign markets.
