Buhler Versatile Inc. Completes Acquisition of ATLAS Group, Strengthening Global Manufacturing Presence
Strategic acquisition expands manufacturing capabilities, diversifies product offerings, and supports long-term international growth.
WINNIPEG, MB, Oct. 19, 2026 /CNW/ -- Buhler Versatile Inc., a Canadian manufacturer of agricultural equipment and a member of the ASKO Group, announces the successful completion of its previously announced acquisition of the operating business of the ATLAS Group, one of Germany's established construction machinery manufacturers.
First announced in June 2026, the transaction officially closed on October 1, 2026, following the satisfaction of the required closing conditions.
The acquisition brings together two established equipment manufacturers with complementary product portfolios, engineering expertise, and international customer relationships. With more than 100 years of history, ATLAS has built a strong reputation in construction machinery, particularly in excavators, material handling equipment, and loader cranes.
"The completion of this acquisition marks an important milestone for Buhler Versatile and our long-term growth strategy," said Zafer Ozbalaban, President of Buhler Versatile Inc. "ATLAS brings an established European brand, valuable engineering expertise, and a strong manufacturing heritage. Together, we have an opportunity to expand our capabilities, strengthen our international presence, and build a more diversified equipment manufacturing business."
The addition of ATLAS broadens Buhler Versatile's equipment portfolio beyond its established Versatile agricultural equipment brand, expanding into construction and material handling equipment. It also strengthens the company's European manufacturing presence, with ATLAS continuing operations at its established locations, including Ganderkesee, Delmenhorst and Vechta in Germany, and Bradford, England.
Both organizations bring complementary strengths in manufacturing, engineering, and product development, along with established dealer and service networks serving customers in North America, Europe, and international markets. These combined capabilities create opportunities for future collaboration in product development, sourcing, procurement, aftermarket support, and market expansion.
Maintaining business continuity and supporting employees, customers, and dealers remain key priorities following the completion of the transaction. As part of the acquisition, more than 200 jobs at ATLAS will be retained, and integration activities will take place over the coming weeks while operations continue under Buhler Versatile ownership.
Buhler Versatile remains committed to preserving the strength and identity of the ATLAS brand while building on its established customer relationships, dealer network, and product support capabilities.
The acquisition also reinforces the broader ASKO Group's commitment to long-term investment, international expansion, and industrial diversification. Buhler Versatile will continue to build on its agricultural equipment business while exploring opportunities for growth in construction and other industrial equipment markets.
"This investment is about bringing together two organizations with strong manufacturing histories and a shared commitment to building dependable equipment," added Ozbalaban. "We value the people, expertise, and customer relationships behind both businesses, and we look forward to building on those strengths to create new opportunities for our employees, dealers, customers, and business partners around the world."
The purchase price and further details of the transaction will remain confidential.
